The Real Frank Sisters and families met up recently for a much-needed outing. We chose to go bowling, something both the little ones and bigger ones can enjoy together, and then dinner.
I wanted to find a good, local place to eat. So after a little online searching (I don’t make it to Kansas City too often so I relied on “the Google” to help me), I happened upon Longboards wraps and bowls.
I was not disappointed.
Established in 2004, the Pacific-style deli shop has four locations in the Kansas City metro area. Their unusual take on wraps and bowls is fun and delicious.
The owner and his family grew up on the Pacific and brought those flavors (and added more) to the Midwest. According to their website, “Longboards is the Wrap Shack. We love surf lifestyle and the island state of mind; that’s why we make filling flavorful wraps and bowls with the best flavors of the Pacific coasts of Hawaii, California, Japan, China, Mexico and beyond.”
We went to the one in Liberty but they also have locations in Lee’s Summit, Gladstone, Mission, KS, and St. Joseph.
The Longboards menu includes salad bowls, hot noodle bowls, cool style and grilled style wraps, Hawaiian sliders and a children’s menu with a variety of sides and specials.
My husband and I shared the Smoked Woody (pork, pepperjack, cucumber, pico de gallo, carrots, pineapples, lettuce and sweet and spicy sauce on a spinach wrap) and the Thai Chicken (chicken, pepperjack, vegetables, rice and peanut sauce on a chipotle wrap) as well as a special they were having, the Jahwaiian nachos which was a little odd but I’m glad I tried it at least once (like the PB&J burger from Carson’s Sports Grille in Maryville).
The Thai Chicken wrap and the Smoked Woody were both amazing. And the food that everyone else ordered looked great, too. I can’t wait to go back.
